Hosted Terminal Server / Hosted Thin-Client Server
A Terminal Server is a bi-directional (two-way) server that handles multiple lines of communication between your office Network and the authorized computers working outside your secure computing environment.

This centralized computing model provides your users with a secure connection to a remote Operating System, through which both physical and virtual resources can be exchanged between server and client.

A Terminal Server or a Thin-Client Server constitutes the server component in a Server-Client computing model. They handle the job of authenticating clients, as well as making applications available to remote users (again, in both the Terminal Services and Thin-Client Server models, all work is performed on the server, rather than on the client machine.) These Servers also restrict user access according to permissions pre-determmined by you and your staff.

Uniquely, a Terminal Server can use RemoteApp to provide a user or users access to a single application (rather than the entire desktop) - via an ordinary web Browser.

To get you started, a Pivot professional will install, configure, and support all components of the Terminal Server to ensure optimal up-time and accessibility to you and your staff. All Thin-Client servers deployed by Pivot Networks are specially configured both to effectively communicate with, and compensate for, the data-processing limitations inherent in a "Dumb" Windows® Terminal.

Remote Desktop Services

Your Servers and the Remote Desktops connected to the comprise a Server-Client computing relationship. In this scenario, a Remote Desktop service represents the client computer, obtaining all information from the Terminal Server. As mentioned previously, all applications and their accompanying data reside on the server, not on an individual user's local machine. As such, these local machines are often referred to as 'Thin" or 'Dumb" clients - as they do nothing other than pass instructions to the server on which the actual work is being done and stored.

With Pivot's Remote Desktop services, your user works with her computer's regular user interface (as she ordinarily would), but all the actual application processing and data storage is performed on your servers, safeguarding data and intellectual property in the even to a lost, stolen, or permanently disabled laptop or other client computer or terminal.

All Pivot Networks Terminal Services and Remote Desktop packages include the installation and support of all applications and services necessary to the continued effectiveness of the Terminal Services computing environment.

If your hardware is becoming obsolete, we urge you to consider the limitless possibilities afforded you with the deployment of a Terminal or Thin-Client server environment. These days, Client workstations are more than affordable, all the maintenance is done on the server-side, and, under this model, your bandwidth consumption will drop dramatically.
